Mahindra has had a good run with its Marazzo, especially the Xylo. But the Xylo never evolved and hence became obsolete. It seems like Mahindra is working on a new Marazzo and unlike the body on frame construction of its predecessors, the new Marazzo will most likely get monocoque construction.
Till now, the test mule has been spotted just once and it does give away the monocoque chassis. It seems to be a full-size seven seater van ready to take on the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Tata Hexa albeit for lesser money. What we do not know is if it would sit on par or below the XUV500.
Being a Mahindra car, the equipment list will be long enough to match Mahindra standards. Which means the top-spec car will get push-button start, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors et al. We are not sure if it will get a sunroof or power seats like the XUV500, but if the Marazzo is built as a premium car, it might get the above features.
Under the hood, you will get the 2.2-litre or the 1.99 litre mHawk engines that develop more than 140bhp of power and over 300Nm of torque. Both the engines will come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and an automatic option as well. It might not get the torque on demand all-wheel drive but will be equipped with the intelli-hybrid start-stop system.
